Exercise to Lose Weight
Posted by Cassie, Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 03:00 AM by Cassie
Often, people looking to lose weight focus on the foods they eat. While decreasing the calories you consume is essential to weight loss, so too is exercise.
Exercise helps tone the body, but it also boosts metabolism, meaning your body burns calories more effectively and at an advanced rate. To really drop inches, partner cardiovascular exercise (jogging, biking, etc.) with weight training.
What's best is that you don't have to be able to bench press hundreds of pounds for weight training to be effective. Simply using the weight machines at your gym for leg presses, arms exercises, etc., can help your body build muscle, which, in turn, will help you burn fat and calories.
If you aren't a member of a gym, purchase some dumbbells and ankle weights the next time you're at the store. These can be just as effective at building muscle as expensive machines.
Of course, you should always talk to your doctor before beginning any exercise program.

I was an obese kid. If you spend years dieting and avoiding excercise, you may very well end up losing muscle. Find a local trainer and learn how to incorporate some weight bearing excercises.
You'll look toned and not flabby after you've lost those pounds. I didn't excercise until I noticed how much muscle I lost. It took YEARS to get my arms to look firm again. Take my advice, and get out those 5 pound weights while you're losing weight! It's one of the healthiest things you can do!
